Teachers must possess a combination of many qualities beginning with a strong academic background and wide-ranging knowledge. The National Framework for Professional Standards for Teaching (2003) it is the knowledge of students, curriculum, subject matter, pedagogy, education – related legislation and the specifically teaching context that is the foundation on effective teaching, and a firm foundation on which to construct well educated judgments.

To contribute to a positive working environment in the classroom, a teacher must be mindful of many features, which add to a, positive environment for their students. Various factors include the physical, psychological, social and pedagogical environments. These features are essential to contribute to creating an atmosphere of happiness and well-being which is essential. It is essential that a teacher creates a stimulating learning environment that students will enjoy, which must be appealing to the attention of students to continue their involvement.

A warm and involvement classroom environment should be created by the teacher to create a genuine interest student and confidence in their ability to learn. This technique will provide the student to feel confident and respected towards their teacher.

To be a Teacher means to be a mentor. To be a teacher means to be a leader. These Statements incorporate persistence, Professionalism,integrity, infinite patience and hard work. With dedication and determination teachers have the ability to shape and change young lives forever.
Teachers are always learning and continually confronted with challenging situations. So How does this affect our abilities to teach? How can we overcome them?
Obstacles happen in every aspect of how we live, it is how we deal with it that separates the good teachers and the not so good.
With a classroom of 24 students it can be difficult to have them all behave. Disruptive behaviour doesn’t necessarily have to start in the classroom, there could be problems at home, the student may be bullied, or the student may just feel anxious.
It is the upmost importance that teachers do not place judgement. Addressing the problem carefully by confrontation with one on one needs to happen first to work out the most effective form of action.
Once we have determined the possible cause then teachers are able to start plans that will be effective for the particular behaviour to cease.
Theorist Ivan Pavlov was responsible for studying behavioural patterns in children and proved that ‘Classic Conditioning’, which is “a type of learning that occurs when individuals learn to produce involuntary or psych responses similar to reflex responses.”(Eggen & Kauchak, 2010, p.164)
So in the particular students behaviour, this would explain anxiousness, therefore making the student feel comfortable and confident would be the main challenge. Coming in the classroom each morning with a warm, cheery deposition would be a start. Begin rules that everyone knows, so everyone is on the same page, even start contracts with the students and if they complete each task, at the end of term they can pick from a prize box.
